Foreclosure Pets of the Week - Mango & Tiki

People aren’t the only ones affected by the current foreclosure crisis. The number of pets at local shelters has doubled. In some cases, pets are simply being abandoned, sometimes even left indoors without food or water.

For every five foreclosed homes at least one animal is left behind…

Please consider the following great pets available for adoption from our friends at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League:

Mango: 1 year old neutered male Miniature Pinscher mix dog

I am just close to 2 yrs. old. I am 16 lbs. and not a teeny-tiny dog but, I feel like a teeny-tiny dog. When I meet new people I get very, very nervous. I need you to help me feel safe. So if you could say “Hi” to me very softly and, greet me very slowly I will feel so much more comfortable. You may see me do the “terrier” shake where I look like I’m chilly! I have totally Terrier personality traits, and I need someone familiar with the way I am. I wouldn’t want you to get discouraged with me. Then, when I am comfortable with you, look out and here I come! I am so playful and full of high energy. Can you please be my forever friend and give me a quiet adult home with someone that will understand me? I promise I will never forget it. I will benefit from structured training lessons which are offered right here at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, which offers ongoing classes for the both of us.

Tiki: 1 year old neutered male cat

Tiki is a very friendly, nice and gentle cat that was visiting a neighbor everyday for a couple of months. He would follow her and camped out on her patio. He loves to be held and have his tummy rubbed. She tried to find his owner but was not successful. Tiki, being a male black cat, is sure to have a sweet and loving disposition like all black boy cats do! We are hoping here at the shelter that more people will come in and adopt our amazing Black and Tuxedo cats as they get passed by all the time. He also has a video you can see though our website! Tiki is a young cat and young cats need several things to grow up to be happy cats, such as being kept inside, regular vet care, toys, nutritious food, clean water, gentle handling and most importantly, lots of love and attention! Cats live 15 to 20 years on average. We ask that you consider carefully that you can make a lifetime commitment to this pet. When bringing a new cat in the house gentle introductions and a little time is always recommended.
