Foreclosure Pets of the Week: Jamika & Willow
People aren’t the only ones affected by the current foreclosure crisis. The number of pets at local shelters has doubled. In some cases, pets are simply being abandoned, sometimes even left indoors without food or water.
For every five foreclosed homes at least one animal is left behind…
Please consider the following great pets available for adoption from our friends at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League:
Jamika:
5 year old spayed female Pointer mix dog
It’s getting closer to the Holidays and I’m sure you know what I’m wishing for. I’m one of the longest residents staying here now. “Oh Jamika, you silly girl!” is what people say to me. Can that be because I have to carry my stuffed friend around with me? Especially on my walks. How could I leave him behind? I know how he would feel. I didn’t really have much of a home before I came here. I spent all my time outside where I had a metal leash around me and I didn’t get to move around much. I had heartworms and I wasn’t very pretty looking. I’ll tell you what though, I just picked myself up and I enjoy people’s company so much. The more I get to know you, the more I love you. When I’m ready to relax, I like my own space so under the bed is where I might be napping. If you come to visit and it looks like my kennel is empty, that’s probably where you’ll find me. I don’t care if you wake me up, let’s go! I am 42 lbs. and 5 years old. And, being over 5 years old I am available for our Senior to Senior adoption program. If you are at least 55 years old the adoption fee is waived and all you pay is the county fee for the rabies tag/license. I will benefit from structured training lessons which are offered right here at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, which offers ongoing classes for the both of us.
Willow:
8 month old spayed female kitten
The eyes on this beautiful kitten are just captivating, like a rare jewel. Beautiful black cats like her have been gracing households since 2000 B.C. Besides being a beautiful and loving cat, she is a decedent of royalty! Willow is alert and on the prowl for a day full of fun, adventure and mischief.
She follows you around, all the while circling and rubbing up against your legs begging for attention. She’s become quite the talker as well, and is quick to let a meow out if you have failed to notice her immediately, don’t pass her by! She also has a video you can view though the Peggy Adams website. Willow is a young cat and young cats need several things to grow up to be happy cats, such as being kept inside, regular vet care, toys, nutritious food, clean water, gentle handling and most importantly, lots of love and attention! Cats live 15 to 20 years on average. We ask that you consider carefully that you can make a lifetime commitment to this pet. When bringing a new cat in the house gentle introductions and a little time is always recommended.
