Foreclosure Pets of the Week: Scooby Doo & Duke

People aren’t the only ones affected by the current foreclosure crisis. The number of pets at local shelters has doubled. In some cases, pets are simply being abandoned, sometimes even left indoors without food or water.

For every five foreclosed homes at least one animal is left behind…

Please consider the following great pets available for adoption from our friends at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League:

Scooby Doo:
6 year old neutered male Great Dane mix dog

I’m Scooby Dooby Doo, how are you? I’m a good size fella, 6 years of age and weigh about 69 pounds. Looking at my face you’d think I was sad, but that’s my thinking face. I’m concentrating on the mysteries and adventures we will have, just like that other guy with the same name. I am independent and I’ll stop for a quick pet and on with my business I will go. I am more macho and not comfortable with mushy hugs and kisses. I am a solid companion with confidence and a laissez-faire attitude. If you’re up to some sleuthing, I’m right around the corner. I am over 5 years old and qualify for the Senior to Senior Program. If you are over 55 years old and you adopt an animal over five years of age, the adoption fee is waived and all you would pay for is a rabies tag. I will benefit from structured training lessons which are offered right here at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, which offers ongoing classes for the both of us.

Duke:
2 year old neutered male cat

Duke is a puff ball of love! This boy came to the shelter with an injured toe. The Doctors decided that it would be in his best interest to remove the toe so he did not have to be in pain anymore. Does he realize that it’s gone? No way! Active, playful and a Sweetheart he is.  Duke has such an adaptable personality he’d be happy as a lap cat, or the best friend of an adoring child. We don’t think he would mind at all being carried around and even wear some frills now and then! He will need your help with grooming to keep his long hair clean and tangle free. Duke needs several things to grow up and stay a happy cat, such as being kept inside, regular vet care, toys, nutritious food, clean water, gentle handling and most importantly lots of love and attention! Cats live 15 to 20 years on average. We ask that you consider carefully that you can make a lifetime commitment to this pet. When bringing a new cat in the house gentle introductions and a little time is always recommended.
