Foreclosure Pets of the Week: Belle & Succotash
People aren’t the only ones affected by the current foreclosure crisis. The number of pets at local shelters has doubled. In some cases, pets are simply being abandoned, sometimes even left indoors without food or water.
For every five foreclosed homes at least one animal is left behind…
Please consider the following great pets available for adoption from our friends at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League:
Belle:Â 6 year old spayed female Red tick Hound mix dog
I am “Belle” of the Ball! My pedigree is a Red tick Coonhound mix and I am around 5 or 6 years of age. I weigh a medium size of 42 pounds. I was rescued with some of my other friends from a bad living situation up North where we weren’t cared for at all. I got Heartworms and they made me feel not so good. I’m being treated here with the right medicine and it’s not such a big deal to do, it just is going to take a longer time to make them go away until some better medicine comes along. My new family can get the medicine with my adoption from here or I can finish up with their Veterinarian. Only because I wasn’t around people I don’t know if they want to be my friend or if they are scary. If you give me time and have patience with me you will see I am very polite and want to make friends. I trust you to take me home and show me what it’s like to have a loving family. I am available for our Senior to Senior adoption program. This offers an animal 5 years and older, placed with someone 55 years and older a waived adoption fee. The adopter will be responsible for the cost of the county license/tag only. I will benefit from structured training lessons which are offered right here at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, which offers ongoing classes for the both of us.
Succotash:Â 9 year old spayed Tortoiseshell female cat
Such a silly name for such a silly cat. Succotash is not full of beans and corn, she’s full of sweetness! She finds it very delightful to put her paw in the water and slosh around a little. She is a petite older gal of 9 years of age. This is a companion that enjoys attention and affection. She’s quiet and becomes shy when a stranger comes around. It’s more of the sharp noises that startle her, like a doorbell. Succotash also has the plus of being a very good looking kitty. She’s available for our Senior to Senior adoption program. This offers an animal 5 years and older, placed with someone 55 years and older a waived adoption fee. The adopter will be responsible for the cost of the county license/tag only. She does need several things to grow up and stay a happy cat, such as being kept inside, regular vet care, toys, nutritious food, clean water, gentle handling and most importantly lots of love and attention! Cats live 15 to 20 years on average. We ask that you consider carefully that you can make a lifetime commitment to this pet. When bringing a new cat in the house gentle introductions and a little time is always recommended.
Our friends at Woof Gang Bakery in Abacoa, Jupiter are happy to provide anyone who adopts a dog from Peggy Adams Rescue League a wonderful welcome dog basket containing a dog bed, collar, leash, etc… Please bring your new four legged friend to Woof Gang Bakery to retrieve it.
